ANZTPA consultations suspended

Consultations and communications on issues related to the ANZ Therapeutic Products Authority (ANZTPA) have been indefinitely suspended in the wake of the official postponement of the scheme.
The suspension was announced last week following the closing of the last two consultations that remained current when New Zealand requested that negotiations between it and the Australian governments to establish ANZTPA be postponed.
The consultation on the Draft Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons and Draft Scheduling Policy Framework closed on July 25 and that on Proposed Medicine Label Statements closed on August 18.
"There is no further consultation at this time on the joint regulatory scheme," a TGA spokesperson said.
"Australian officials are now taking stock of the work done to date with a view to identifying a course forward. This process will include cataloguing the comments and suggestions made by various industry groups during the entire consultation process," the spokesperson said.
The Joint Agency Establishment Group issued a notice August 21 suspending its communications activities and directing enquiries to the websites of the two existing regulatory bodies. |
